Men's Fashion Week: Mimir takes Milan by storm with a brutalist venue

Milan Fashion Week is obviously the ideal venue for a fashion brand’s debut. In the case of Mimir, a Norwegian menswear brand, such debut before the Milanese public took place in January, during Milan Men’s Fashion Week. We realised straight away that this was a brand with a clear vision: the team asked us for a venue for a pop-up shop with very specific requirements. As well as providing adequate space to display and sell the products, the location had to be a physical extension of the brand itself in terms of visual appeal. Mimir’s aesthetic is minimalist, brutalist, and deeply Nordic in its minimalism, and the location had to reflect these characteristics through clean lines. In short, we needed a space that spoke the same language as the brand, in a city where, during fashion week, mediocre choices are not tolerated, because standing out is essential.

An art gallery and an integrated project for a spectacular debut

Why open a shop when you can launch an experience? Location a Milano suggested a stunning art gallery with minimalist architecture as the perfect venue for Mimir’s pop-up shop: an exhibition space where the brand’s collection could be experienced just like a work of art. A choice that amplified the brand’s brutalist concept, whilst also highlighting the ultra-minimalist palette of blacks and whites. For the opening night, we paid particular attention to the catering: a carefully selected partner created a selection of finger food with ingredients, colours and shapes that directly evoked Mimir’s Norwegian roots, because every detail of the evening was meant to tell the same story. We worked together with the Guru Marketing unit, to make sure the gallery became the centrepiece of a comprehensive communication strategy: set-ups that followed the brand guidelines down to the smallest detail, a consistent creative approach across all assets, from press releases to PR, from product seeding to packaging, as well as street marketing and drive-to-store initiatives. In short, everything needed to transform a brand’s launch into a cultural event.

A memorable debut for a minimalist brand

When the client’s representatives thanked us in front of all the guests during their opening speech, we knew that our work had hit the mark. Mimir’s launch event in Milan attracted exactly the kind of audience that their brand needed: macro and micro influencers, trade press, and carefully targeted guests. The turnout was impressive, which is by no means a given for a young brand making its first public appearance. On an operational level, the whole experience was seamless: impeccable organisation, top-tier suppliers, and catering so meticulously curated that it became a positioning element in its own right. Mimir has entered the Milan fashion market with the confidence of someone who already knows exactly where they’re going.
